Questions to Ask Loved Ones On Vacation

There is something special about family reunions (of every size) when visiting the shore. It is an opportunity for lots of togetherness. There is often a lot of free time .  I wish I could go back to some of our family vacations and ask our relatives some questions we wouldn’t otherwise ask during our normal day to day.

Think about what would make your vacation a little more special.  It may be a conversation that you have with a loved one.   This may be something you would want to video or document.   Here are some conversation topics.  If you don’t like bringing up these topics maybe write some questions down on note cards.

We’d love to hear from you if you asked these questions!

  • What is your earliest childhood memory, and what stands out to you about that time?
  • Can you share a family tradition or ritual that has been passed down through the generations?
  • Who were your role models growing up, and how did they influence your life?
  • What was the most challenging or pivotal moment in your life, and how did you overcome it?
  • Are there any family stories or anecdotes that have been passed down that you find particularly interesting or amusing?
  • What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve ever received, and how has it impacted your life?
  • Can you recall a moment of great joy or accomplishment in your life that you are especially proud of?
  • What was your favorite family vacation or gathering, and what made it memorable for you?
  • How do you hope to be remembered by future generations of our family?
