Canceling your vacation

Our town is lucky to get almost a week off of school to celebrate Presidents Day. It is the perfect time to take a winter vacation. The kids get very little work during the few days they are there and most after school activities are cancelled since many kids are away for the week.

For the first year ever we booked a trip ! We were going to St. John USVI. We booked the flights, VRBO and car. We were as set as we needed to be…. until…. I required some surgery. I won’t go into it but we cancelled our trip because I needed time to recover.

I am happy we bought the insurance. Have we ever used the trip insurance before? No but we like knowing it is is there if we need it. We’ve only started purchasing the insurance due to health of family members but there are so many reasons to have it. Its just a little peace of mind. There is some required documentation required and in our case it can easily be provided.

There are many companies that offer the insurance. We purchased ours through CSA VRBO and United Airlines.

I wish we could just instantly rebook but the stars need to align again where the kids are available, we have a dog walker and my husband and I can get off of work.

Do I think all my pinteresting research was a waste? I hope not. I do feel sad though that we never got to snorkel in the pretty blue water or hike to the water falls.
