Bored or Board Games?

Playing board games at a beach vacation rental can be a great way to unwind and have fun. While our kids may love their phones (hate to admit it), we love to have board games around for some quality time.

A beach house is a perfect place to start a new tradition since it is a change of scenery and it’s not your day to day route . Who knows maybe your family will love it and want to play more upon returning home?!

Here are some board games that are well-suited for a beach vacation. We’ve included some outdoor games – perfect for the beach, back yard or possibly indoors should you have space if the weather isn’t cooperating.

1. Clue: Who doesn’t love a good mystery. My son really got into this when he was about 8. It moves quicker than monopoly making it a good option to play over and over again.

2. Spikeball: While not a traditional board game, <a href=”spike ball“>Spike Ball can be a blast at the beach. It’s a combination of volleyball and four-square. It requires a little setting up with the net so allow for a little time to get ready.

3. Bananagrams: A fast-paced <a href=”bananagrams“>word game that’s great for playing on a beach towel. It’s easy to clean up if sand gets involved.

4. Beach Paddleball: We like to call it Pro Kadima. A classic beach game, perfect for a quick and active diversion by the water.

5. Jenga: There are 2 great versions of this. We love the <a href=”Jenga“>small version for indoors. It brings me back to my college days thinking about writing things to do on each of the pieces. The <a href=”Giant Jenga“>giant outdoor version of this game is a great option for the beach. For our business, we rent many of these per week. Some guests bring to beach or just put outside and play throughout their stay.

6. Uno: Our family favorite is <a href=”Uno Attack“>Uno Attack. It includes a random launcher that shoots out cards depending on which card you select. We also love the sealed <a href=”Uno Splash“>Uno Splash compact cards that are waterproof. Our kids aren’t great sitters on the beach so we keep this handy!

7. <a href=”Apples to Apples“>Apples to Apples: A hilarious party game for larger groups, perfect for evenings indoors.

8. Cornhole: A popular <a href=”

“>bean bag toss game that’s perfect for the beach. Many beach rental homes have Cornhole boards available but we rent them with our business every week. This is a game that even toddlers love. We prefer the plastic version since they can can be left out in rain or brought up the the beach. Some are heavier than others so look up which set would work best with your group.

Remember to consider the number of players, ages of your crew, the space available, and the preferences of those in your vacation group when choosing board games for your beach vacation.

You never know who will get really into it? Don’t underestimate grandma lol!
