My Favorite Travel Packing Tips 🏖️
Over the years, I’ve learned that packing doesn’t have to feel chaotic or stressful. A few simple habits have made traveling so much easier for me — especially for beach vacations — so I wanted to share some of my favorite packing hacks that I swear by!
- I Always Start With a Packing List
I know it sounds basic, but this has been the biggest game changer for me. I keep a running packing checklist in Google Drive and update it while I pack. It takes away so much of the stress and guesswork, especially when you’re trying not to forget the little things like chargers, sunscreen, or travel documents. - Packing Early = Less Stress
I used to think I packed “better under pressure,” but honestly, starting early makes trips feel so much calmer. About a week before vacation, I start planning outfits, checking what needs to be washed, and reviewing my list. It makes the days leading up to the trip feel exciting instead of rushed. - I Pack by Outfit, Not by Item
This one completely changed how I pack. Instead of throwing in random tops and shorts “just in case,” I plan actual outfits for each day or activity — dinner night, beach day, travel day, etc. It helps me avoid overpacking and saves me from the vacation “what should I wear?” struggle. - Packing Cubes Are Worth the Hype
I resisted packing cubes for years because I thought they were only for ultra-organized travelers. Turns out, they really do make life easier. I use them to separate outfits, pajamas, swimsuits, and even kids’ clothes. Unpacking at the destination is so much quicker too. - Shoes Make Great Storage Space
If I’m packing anything delicate, I tuck it inside my shoes with socks around it for protection. It also helps shoes keep their shape and saves space in the suitcase. - Here’s How I Pack a Beach Hat
For beach vacations, I always place my hat in the suitcase first and stuff the inside with socks or soft items to help it keep its shape. Then I pack around it carefully so the brim stays flat. It works surprisingly well! - Mesh Bags Keep Everything Organized
I use small mesh bags for things like jewelry, sunscreen, chargers, snacks, and loose beach items. They’re especially great for beach trips because they hold up well even if they get a little wet or sandy.
These little packing habits have honestly made traveling feel so much easier and less stressful for me. Hopefully a few of them help make your next vacation a little smoother.
